Marine Technologies, Inc. returned in the spring of 2015 following emergency waler repairs finished in 2014 to continue with long-term repairs to support a failing waler on a sheet pike bulkhead in 25' of water.  MTI cleaned sheet pile with water blasters, mauls and sledge hammers until there were no loose sections.  A C12x30 waler was installed across a sheet pile bulkhead tied back with helical anchors.  Performance tests were done and all helical anchors were proof tested before being locked off to waler.

In areas where soils were unable to support helical anchor capacity, MTI excavated 10' down to the existing tie rods and inspected, cut and replace crippled tie rods.  MTI welded sheer studs above and below water to sheet pile wall 7' below the failing waler up to an existing concrete sheet pile cap; installed rebar reinforcement above and under water; placed forms and pumped concrete through pumping ports until forms were full and failing waler and rebar were fully encased in concrete.
